Online Certification Training
Has anyone taken the ACT (Athletic Certification Training Commission) online exam?
I’ve been doing some research and see that the online text as well as the exam (taken first time) is all free. There is a pro package as well for 65$ (more support they say, flashcards given, practice exams) but I’d rather study the text myself and see if I can pass the first time.
For the ones who have taken it, how was the exam? Was it pretty hard? Did you have to study the textbook from start to finish? Did anyone get the pro package and if so, did that help? Also, do gyms even take this online certificate seriously? Thanks, any input would be great.
I have the stuff to take it, have looked it over and taken some of the practice exams. They really arent that hard, but some of it is stuff I already knew due to being a paramedic. I got the pro package and really dont even recall what the difference was lol. I think it had more to do with the testing, if you failed you got a better rate on the next one with the pro package.
They arent NCAA certified yet, although they are in process of doing that now. I only decided to do it so that if i wanted to make a little side money training someone Id have a certificate and insurance. I never and still dont have any intention to work in a gym. I just like working out and i like to help people get going on it. If someone wants to pay me then Im ok with that lol.
Untill they are NCAA certified I doubt alot of gyms will take it seriously. I did read in the forums there where some people were getting hired due to this certification but were being required to take another one that is NCAA recognized. Ass far as the studying, ive been watching the power point stuff they do on site and then referring to the book only when i need to. I will admit there are some parts of it that i need to use the book for, some of it I already know from other education so dont really need the book as much.
